JUANA DE ARCO
contemporaneity, feminism, mysticism
2024
Joan of Arc seen as a mystical poem that reveals the intellectual maturity of the adolescent figure; a kind of Upanishad or auto sacramental that, in the spirit of ritual, reconciles the human with the invisible and opens the body to its divine, transcendent dimension.
Marta Pazos directs a cast of seven women who, together with the words of Sergio Martínez Vila and the choreography of Belén Martí Lluch, reclaim the figure of Joan of Arc as a defiant light and a “living flame of love” in a time of overwhelming darkness. An epic production grounded in a language inspired by mystical poetry and vision. A performance that seeks to rewrite the myth beyond the official version that has come down to us.
